I am illusion, I love my existence.

You know, I am an avid black coffee drinker and I am completely confused about reading my social timeline which in the last two months proclaimed the following — Coffee causes mental dilemma, Coffee drinkers are intelligent, Coffee drinkers are depressed, Coffee drinkers have a higher lifespan, Coffee drinkers can die early, Coffee consumers are the happiest and it goes on and on and on…

Now, not all of them can be right. As a generic human with a normal IQ, what do I believe in? And coffee is something we still can find factual data readily available in the world. Think about the numerous point of views and validations that you read through every day? What is right? What is wrong?

Illusion, a term always referred to as a misrepresentation of any real sensory cue, that challenges reality of any general agreement. Basically, a pothole that resembles under the street light shadow as a rock and you feel you’re about to bump into it. Basically, the sound of a bunch of coins in your pocket that when you walk makes you feel some Chudail’s following you. Basically, when you feel somebody brushed your back but it’s your skin that’s contracting on a chilly night. Ignore all these paranormal references, illusion also has it’s own daily interferences. Like your vehicle’s side mirror shouts aloud that ‘objects in the mirror are closer than they appear’ but it’s after you bump into someone that you realise, ‘Oh! It’s written here!’…

Point being, illusions are generally referred towards physical human interventions through their anatomies. But beyond the idea of touch, audio or optical illusion, what’s increasingly growing is the practice of mental illusion. And as much as this sounds like a science, it isn’t science at all. It’s this simple practice of how we’re all believing in what the world wants and makes us to believe. For the lack of any better word, let’s call it an illusion.

Have you heard of this word called ‘rumour’? Of course, you have! But you practically use it only when somebody validates it for you that it’s a rumour. It’s rare that you’d come across any life incident/happening that you’d yourself proclaim it to be a rumour. Why would you? Our brains are programmed to be accepting everything that’s thrown at us. Example: The world around ‘Social media’ works in this exact way! It’s so common you’d be asked to do or not to do something because it arrives as a nice well-written draft with a couple of convincing conviction based (may be offensive) lines. We all believe in what we read (at least the first time).

Have you heard of this world called ‘fact’? Of course, you have! But we so loosely adhere to it when someone says it with all the conviction on his/her face, ‘Fact hai boss!’ Followed by a couple of seconds of a convincing stare. We believe a rumour to be a fact basis how well it’s written or read aloud. Not that you can really do anything about this, but think about it, Like I would love to adhere to a fact that comes from a human that is aligned to state this fact, someone’s who’s a scholar of this probe topic. However, the problem here is how well this fact can be diluted before it reaches to you, though the author of this fact remains the same.

All I wish to convey is how easy it is to manipulate data/theory/fact in the current world that we live. We all have equal access to social media. Essentially, the power and the right to showcase our views, our opinions to the entire world. While as much I wish to use the famous saying, ‘With power comes responsibility blah blah’, I wish I could see more of it around us. ‘My life is like an open book’, the famous banter dialogue has now become a worldly fact.

We all want to know what’s happening in the lives of our loved ones and the idea to effortlessly scroll your thumb on a touch screen has given us this revolutionary access. But it’s also opened the gateway to be vulnerable amongst the endless amount of data which I want to believe is also revolutionary access. What you come across on the web might change your life, might give you a new perspective, might open up a new door for you — but only when you’re vigilant in what you believe. Read, think, validate and then it’s up to you how you take it up…

After all, I am an illusion and I do want wish to love my existence.
